A Prayer for Strength When Life Feels Heavy
Some seasons don't ask if you're ready. They just arrive. This prayer is for the moments when you're running low and the road still has miles left.
A Prayer
Father, I am tired in ways that sleep doesn't fix. Tired of trying, tired of waiting, tired of holding it together for everyone else when I can barely hold myself.
I am not asking you to take the difficulty away, though I wouldn't refuse that. I am asking you to be my strength where mine has run out. To be the ground under my feet when I feel like I'm falling. To be the voice that says keep going when everything in me says stop.
Remind me that strength is not the same as pushing harder. Sometimes strength is resting. Sometimes it is asking for help. Sometimes it is simply still being here at the end of the day, still breathing, still trusting that you are at work even when I can't see it.
Renew what is depleted. Sustain what is fragile. And when I can't see the next step, be the next step. I don't need the whole map. I just need to know you're walking with me.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Scripture for Reflection
Isaiah 40:31
The prophet writes that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, soaring on wings like eagies, running without growing weary, walking without being faint, a promise that endurance comes from God, not from our own reserves.
2 Corinthians 12:9
Paul records God's words: My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness, a reminder that our limits are not obstacles to God's work but the very place where it becomes visible.
Psalm 73:26
The psalmist declares that though his flesh and heart may fail, God is the strength of his heart and his portion forever, an anchor that holds even when the body and emotions give way.
Reflection
We often confuse strength with never breaking. But Scripture tells a different story. The strongest people in the Bible were the ones who knew they couldn't do it alone. They argued with God, wept in the wilderness, and still kept showing up.
If you are exhausted, that does not mean your faith has failed. It means you are human. The question is not whether you can keep pushing. The question is whether you can let God hold what you cannot.
Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is rest. Eat. Sleep. Tell someone the truth about how you're doing. Strength renewed often begins with honesty spoken.
