Prayer & Encouragement

A Prayer for Anxiety and Peace

When your mind won't slow down, prayer doesn't require perfect words. You can begin exactly where you are, with whatever you're carrying.

A Prayer

Lord, I bring you my racing thoughts, the weight in my chest, the things I cannot name. You see what I cannot see. You know what tomorrow holds before I get there.

Quiet what is loud inside me. Not by erasing what is real, but by reminding me that I am not alone with it. You are here, in this breath, in this moment, in the middle of what feels unbearable.

When fear tells me I have to hold everything together, help me let go of what was never mine to carry. When worry tells me the worst is coming, help me trust that your grace will meet me there too.

Give me peace that does not depend on circumstances changing, but on the steady truth that you are God and I am yours. One moment at a time. One breath at a time. That is enough for now.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture for Reflection

Philippians 4:6-7

Paul writes that we should not be anxious about anything, but in every situation present our requests to God with thanksgiving, and the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 94:19

The psalmist confesses that when anxiety was great within him, God's consolation brought joy to his soul, a reminder that comfort comes not from the absence of struggle but from God's presence within it.

1 Peter 5:7

Peter encourages us to cast all our anxiety on God because he cares for us, an invitation to release what we were never meant to carry alone.

Reflection

Anxiety often feels like a signal that something terrible is about to happen. But most of the time, it is a signal that something heavy has been carried too long without being shared.

Prayer does not magically make the feeling disappear. But it does something else: it moves the weight from your shoulders to a broader place. It reminds you that the story is not over, that you are not the only one writing it, and that the God who holds the universe also holds you.

If anxiety is persistent, overwhelming, or interfering with your daily life, reaching out to a trusted counselor or medical professional is not a lack of faith. It is wisdom. God works through people who are trained to help.
